    National Meningitis B Awareness Day in the United States

    This World Meningitis Day, CoMO members Patti Wukovits (of The Kimberly Coffey Foundation) and Alicia Stillman (of The Emily Stillman Foundation) will join U.S. Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN) and Congressman Mike Bishop (MI) in Washington D.C. to introduce a Resolution to the U.S. House of Representatives that would designate April 24th as National Meningitis B Awareness Day in the United States.

    New vaccination strategies needed in China to prevent spread of meningococcal disease and prepare for potential outbreaks

    An international group of expert scientists, doctors and public health officials has reported that cases of meningococcal group B meningitis and septicaemia (MenB) are increasing in China, and have recommended that an effective MenB vaccination strategy should be in place in preparation for a potential outbreak of the disease.

    Consultation on UK Immunisation Schedule Changes

    In October 2017, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advised a revised schedule for the PCV13 vaccination, currently administered to children in the UK to protect against strains of pneumococcal bacteria. The current schedule is for doses at two, four and 12 months (also known as a 2+1 schedule). The revised schedule would replace the doses at two and four months with one at three months (1+1).
