MRC also held a reception at Queen’s Park to celebrate the day and educate members, who wore burgundy carnations in recognition of the day.
The Instituto Pedro Arthur celebrated World Meningitis Day with a party in the Botanical Gardens in Rio de Janeiro. Football players, singers, healthcare managers and Peter Arthur himself all showed up to raise awareness of meningitis, and in particular to highlight the importance of the Meningitis B vaccine, which is currently not available for free in Brazil.
On World Meningitis Day Jamie Schanbaum, meningitis survivor and the namesake of The JAMIE group, spoke about why she supports World Meningitis Day and why spreading the word about meningitis is so important. Click here to watch the video.
Other members across the USA handed out fliers, posted messages on social media and gave talks in local schools, all raising awareness and working together to put an end to meningitis.
