The Confederation of Meningitis Organisations (CoMO) is delighted to embark on an exciting new partnership with the Global Meningococcal Initiative (GMI), along with one of our largest members, the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) in the UK. By combining expertise, knowledge and resources we unite as a strengthened voice for meningitis prevention.

The GMI’s main aim is to prevent invasive meningococcal disease (IMD), an acute, potentially severe illness caused by the bacterium Neisseria Meningitidis. The organisation, which is funded by Sanofi Pasteur, is comprised of scientists, clinicians and public health experts who use education and research to assess the burden of the disease and review immunisation strategies. The GMI uses methods such as awareness raising and international cooperation to reduce the impact of IMD at both global and regional levels.
