World Meningitis Day 2023: an easy way to take part

World Meningitis Day is coming soon on 5 October 2023.

One of our most accessible actions this year is Light The Road Ahead - illuminate something, then share a photo of it at 20:30 on 5 October (read more here).

To make it easier for you to participate, we are providing some suggested wording for your Light The Road Ahead social media posts.

If you have time, it is always more engaging to write your own captions, or edit our suggestions to make them more personalised. But if you don't have time for that, feel free to copy and paste any of these.

Encouraging others to take part in the run-up to 5 October (use the image below):

For the first time in history there is a Global Road Map to Defeat Meningitis by 2030 that will save up to 200,000 people from dying from meningitis every year.

I want to remember all those impacted by meningitis and show my support for the aims of the Road Map.

That’s why I'm joining a global chain of light to mark this year’s World Meningitis Day on 5 October.

To take part, simply light a candle or illuminate something at 20:30 (8.30pm), wherever you are in the world, and share it using the hashtag #WorldMeningitisDay to help spread a little hope.

Together with other people around the world, we are lighting the road to 2030. Please join us!
